Director of Compliance Denver Gingerich has recently worked with the @FuluFoundation to announce the bounty program for continuing the Right to (Software) Repair for GPL devices. Denver noted that “Nest chose to use software with a built-in right to repair in its thermostats. But they took those rights away when they locked down the Nest devices and failed to provide the complete source code for Linux"

@conservancy @FuluFoundation interesting, openly asking for bounty seekers to violate the DMCA, and put themselves at risk without offering them legal protection. Normally, bounties are covered by an umbrella legal statement that the bounty provider will not seek legal action against the researcher. Is the SFC going to coordinate any such agreement?
